Recent Project – Wilson

The nephew of Mr and Mrs Wilson requested a portrait as an anniversary present to them. However, the only photo he had available was a rather dark and blurry black and white pic, as set forth below. My choice then was to “fake” color from my imagination, or to do what is known as a monochrome portrait. That is, a portrait done in varying values of a single color. In this case, I chose indigo as the primary color. Progress after two sessions is set forth below. Should be finished in one more session, if I can achieve the effects I am looking for as to transition in value and contrast, much of which I am having to conjure, due to the low quality of the photo I am working from. But no more than two sessions at the most.
