Recent Project – Beata (day at the park)

The moment I saw the photo  which inspired the painting, I couldn’t wait to get at it; to see what I could do with it. The sharp contrast  in the facial lines, the flowing hair, the radiant smile, all set in conjunction with the clean, precise lines of the structure  (foot bridge perhaps) upon which she is positoned.  But as I got into it, it seemed a little stark, almost empty.  So, I did what I invariably do.  I added stuff not in the original photo (to wit, the trees, the potted California poppies and the balloons.  This all  helped a bit, but I am still struggling with an authentic looking color scheme.  Oh well, what the hell.  If it was easy everyone would do it.  Let see how it comes out – when you have a smile like that to work with , it would be difficult to screw it up too badly
