For me, a painting should be readily distinguishable from a photograph. I don’t think I have posted this painting, but it is among my favorites. It is of my son, Mike, who is among my favorite subjects. It is what I would characterize as a sketch – took maybe an hour and a half. It is fast and loose but captures the subject. It is a painting. Wish I could paint this way all the time, but most of the subjects, or the commissioning agents, want something a bit more detailed. Ah, well.
